Halal is an Arabic word which means permissible or lawful. In the Holy Quran, God commands Muslims and all of mankind to eat of the Halal things - "O mankind! Eat of that which is lawful and wholesome, and follow not the footsteps of the devil.  Lo! he is an avowed enemy of you." (2:168)

About MaxHalal
MaxHalal is a team of Muslim professionals, that emerged in early 2002, whose existence is primarily to assist Muslims and non-Muslims around the world to understand, conform and be in uniformity in observing the Jurisprudence of the Halal(lawful) and Haram(forbidden) in Islam in accordance to the requirements as setforth in the al Quran and the As-Sunnah. Al Quran being the holy Quran and As-Sunnah being the words of, action, examples agreements and dissagreements of Rasulullah (pbuh) during his tenure as the Prophet (pbuh).

As it is today the Islamic worlds are divided into sect, mazhabs with many diversities in observing the faith of Islam depending on which part of the world they are. There is only one Allah swt and one Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) that we obey. In actual fact we should be in uniformity in our faith towards Islam. With these diversities, the Muslim worlds shall remain divided in many ways on how they observe their beliefs and practices.

MaxHalal is not here to change the Muslim worlds, its a long battle but as far as the Halal and Haram on food are concerned, we shall try to assist and enlighten the general public in order to make it easy for everyone to understand.

In countries where the majority are Muslims, the task of controlling and labelling of Halal products are undertaken by the Government. In countries where Muslims are minority it is left to individuals with the knowledge on Halal and Haram to guide their fellow Muslim brothers and sisters on issues regarding the Halal and Haram based on their localised understanding of Islam. In some countries, private companies are taking the task to issue Halal Certifications based on their own understanding of Halal and Haram.

MaxHalal was formed with the main intention of standardizing the procedures, methods of all activities relating to the Halal Certification worldwide in accordance with the al-Quran and the As-Sunnah. By doing so it will eliminate ambiguities and confusion among Muslims worldwide on the understanding of Halal and Haram of the products that are being produced by the non-Muslim countries.

On this website we shall try to explain in simple terms about Halal and Haram of food and beverages.
